This January transfer market is typically a period of significant speculation and possible major moves. Numerous notable footballers find themselves linked with moves away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the top figures that could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to qualify for the AFCON, this has left the forward in contention, indications are a significant move is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a sizeable release clause applicable for a brief period at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other options, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous move to Anfield falling through. As his deal set to expire in the close season, this represents the club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. Rúben Neves

The Portuguese playmaker could be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January departure looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing curiosity in the keeper.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has continued scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of being in the England squad. K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. The teenager is heavily expected to make a major move in January. Newcastle United reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
