A Gradual Return The princess has been making her own steady comeback to official duties following her health challenges and treatment, last month delivering her initial major address in two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring". Music and Opportunity Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by young musicians supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, co-founded by the late Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for musical tuition. Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from Pembrokeshire, has been assisted by the trust, with awards contributing to instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "awesome" to be playing at the concert. "Pursuing music is often costly," the musician remarked. She is now enrolled at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities. A Family Affair Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many important people," she said. Among the guests will be representatives of different generations. That will encompass Saphia Turner, aged nine, honouree of a prize for youthful altruism, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to generate funds for food banks. Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts The Abbey has been decorated with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett helping to make them. Taking to the stage will be singer Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "a dream come true."
